Disaster has struck. The royal army is streaming back towards our capital. Word is spreading of a great defeat, which was only stopped from turning into a rout by the valiant delaying action of our Cossack hordes.
A punitive expedition, led by the king's uncle, Von Gapinderlinz, was dispatched to help quell the rebellion in Dreicoleur (and perhaps permanently place some land under Krussian protection while he was there). Unfortunately, he arrived only after the old order had fallen and had to face the brunt of the revolutionary armies himself.
Details of the defeat are scant. Few could be extracted from the old goat before he was hung by his scrotum over the city gates. The cur had the gall to return without victory or even a flesh wound.
Worse news follows. The rebels, spurred on by their victory are approaching the borders of Krussia. They claim they wish to export the revolution. We know that all they shall be exporting are fleas and lice.
Another uncle of the king has been given the opportunity to shine, or to join his brother on the gates. He is rallying the Royal army. Having broken the existing units of grenadiers to fill in the gaps in the musketeers lines, he has incorporated the Life Guard to take their place. These fearless troops are sure to stand better in the face of fire.

The mere description of such atrocities occurring confirms to all the enlightened peoples of Lichtengrein of the hordes and dangers that lie in the not so distant borderlands to the east - extra royal funds have been released to further bolster the armies of Lichtengrein.
